Morning drop-off reminder: Playground supervision doesn't begin until 8:08 AM. If students arrive before then, there is no staff outside. Please plan drop-off accordingly.
Terry Fox fundraising wraps up this week. Elementary students are working toward a movie and treat afternoon. Junior and Senior High are working toward the chance to pie a staff member — motivation levels are high.
Please ensure your family Verification forms have been updated and returned to school. Grasslands will soon be moving to a text or email attendance messenger, and we need your correct information. Also, please pay school fees as soon as possible.
Vaping — a request to parents of students in Grades 6–12: Please take a few minutes this week to talk with your child about vaping at school, on school grounds, or in the community during school hours. Staff are checking washrooms and changerooms regularly, but students continue to vape in those spaces. Students caught breaking these rules face suspension, which includes suspension from extracurricular activities for the length of the suspension. We would much rather have the conversation at home than the consequence at school.
Monday — Picture Day. Dress your best. Our high school golfers head to Zones.
Tuesday - Twin Day - Find a friend and dress as a twin.
Wednesday - City or Country
Thursday — Terry Fox Run starts at 10:45 AM and follows our usual route around town. Ice cream to follow.
Friday — Bronco Blue Day - Pep rally at 11:15 AM for our Senior Girls Volleyball team. Students will run through some fun activities before we watch the Senior Girls take on staff, with a few Bassano Beavers possibly joining in.
Saturday — Senior Girls host our home tournament. We'll post a schedule later in the week.
Basasno Beavers are looking for game day volunteers. Interested High School students can talk to Mr. Rodgers, and he will pass names along to the Beavers staff. Great perks for volunteers. Bassano Broncos are excited to share our community's spirit and love of sports with our newest hockey club. GO BEAVERS!!
Welcome to week 3. This week, we are happy to open our doors to students and families for BRONCO NIGHT. This annual event provides an opportunity for parents, grandparents, and families to meet the teachers, tour the school, and, this year, cheer on our senior girls' Bronco volleyball team as they take on Rosemary. Doors open at 4:30, taco-in-a-bag dinner at 5:00, and volleyball at 5:30.

High School students are reminded to complete permission forms for tours to Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic on Tuesday Oct 13. Students can also sign up for the Ag Skills event at the Brooks Crop Development Center in November.
Last Friday, we kicked off our Terry Fox Fundraising Campaign. Please continue to show our Bassano community support for this event and the school by donating through one of our students. Our Terry Fox Run is Thursday September 24 in the morning.

Our staff have been in the building all week getting everything ready, and we can't wait to see our returning students and to welcome our newest Broncos. Parents, you're welcome to come inside with your student to help make the morning a smooth one. New students can come in through the main doors by the flagpoles and check in at the office.
A few quick reminders: our first bell rings at 8:18 AM, and we dismiss at 3:15. The new lunch break for elementary students runs from 12:08 to 12:54, and for junior and senior high students from 12:17 to 12:51.

📚 Pre-K & Kindergarten classes begin the week of September 8 across Grasslands Public Schools.
👋 Orientation takes place the week of August 31, and teachers will be reaching out to families with details.

*Kindergarten families: There’s still time to register your child online.

Grasslands Public Schools will be conducting a Herbicide Program to control weeds on School Grounds and other School Division properties. The program will commence on May 22 and run until May 24, pending weather.
All herbicide applications will be in strict accordance with all regulations established by Alberta Environment, and rates will be at Federally approved label recommendations.
Herbicide warning signs will be placed on all treated Division Property. Please stay off treated areas until signs are removed.
