Bassano School

To Bassano School Students, Families, and Community,

I am excited and honoured to be joining Bassano School as Principal. It is a privilege to lead such an outstanding school and to take on the challenge of preparing our students for the opportunities and challenges of both the year ahead and the future. I recognise that I am entering a school with an established culture of learning and excellence, grounded in dedicated students, staff, and families. I also recognise Bassano School’s deep commitment to and place within the community, including the Siksika Nation, surrounding rural areas, farms and ranches, and the oil and gas industry. Having grown up in a town much smaller than Bassano, I look forward to reconnecting with my rural roots.

I am eager to work alongside the staff to ensure that students learn the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be successful in their future endeavours and to become active, respectful, and responsible citizens of Alberta and Canada. While our children face many challenges, some of which are not yet known, I am confident that through a productive and proactive partnership between home and school, we will provide students with a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment where they can thrive, grow, and enjoy their school experience.

Bassano School has a rich history and tradition of athletics, citizenship, leadership, and community involvement, all of which we will continue to build and grow. One of my key goals is to strengthen and expand our programs so that every student can and will choose to remain in the community and at Bassano School to complete their education from Early Learning through Grade 12 and transition successfully to post-secondary opportunities. Achieving this will require a continued commitment from the school, families, and the community working together.

Over the past few weeks, our staff have been working hard, preparing classrooms, setting up learning spaces, and planning engaging lessons, to ensure that students feel welcomed and ready to learn from the very first day. Their dedication, creativity, and excitement for the year ahead are evident in everything they do. As a team, we are eager to greet our students, celebrate their return, and make this school year one filled with growth, opportunity, and success.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to make 2025–26 an outstanding year at Bassano School. Should you want to connect with me, please email me directly at tim.rodgers@grasslands.ab.ca or call the school office during regular school hours at (403) 641-3577.

Sincerely,

Tim Rodgers
