Building Community Through Connection at Playfair Lodge

At Bassano School, learning extends well beyond our classroom walls. On February 4, our Grade 2–3 students enjoyed another meaningful visit to Playfair Lodge, part of an ongoing monthly partnership that brings together our youngest learners and valued community seniors.

These visits are about more than activities—they are about relationships. By creating Valentine art, sharing games, and spending time together, students and residents build genuine connections that foster empathy, understanding, and joy. Our students learn firsthand the importance of listening, kindness, and showing respect, while residents experience the energy and warmth that children naturally bring into a space.image0.jpeg

This partnership reflects our school’s guiding principles of being Respectful, Responsible, and Involved. Students are learning what it means to be actively involved in their community and to value the wisdom and experiences of others. In turn, the broader community sees our school as a place where citizenship, compassion, and connection are intentionally nurtured.image2.jpeg

Through these monthly visits, Bassano School is proud to strengthen intergenerational bonds and contribute to a caring, connected community—one visit at a time.
