The Bassano Broncos curling team—consisting of Skip Allie Evans, Third Abby Harris, Second Madison Evans, and Lead Hannah Evans—represented our school with pride at the South Central Zone championships in Cochrane on February 11 and 12.
It was a busy midweek stretch for the team, as they navigated a packed schedule of five games over two days. Competing in a field of roughly eight to ten regional teams, the Broncos faced off against Holy Trinity School, Sundre, Strathmore, and Delia.
With a series of strong performances and a couple of key wins, the girls advanced to the semi-finals, ultimately securing fourth place. Many of the matches were decided by the narrowest of margins, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final stones.
A huge thank you to Coach Sheila Evans for her guidance and to Teacher Cindy Harris for travelling with the girls and supporting the team throughout the event.
The girls were fantastic ambassadors for our school, demonstrating great sportsmanship and the steady determination that defines Bassano athletes. It is great to see our students competing at such a high level within the zone. We look forward to seeing what this talented group achieves in the years to come.
Way to go, Broncos!
